We are pleased to announce the launch of the brand new design of the joomla.org homepage! And it’s not only about a new design, the content has been refreshed to make it easy to discover the Joomla! World and more easily find the information you may need.

A big thank you to the Redesign Team

This new homepage required a long process to identify the needs and the message Joomla! wanted to spread.

In August 2015, just as we completed upgrading the site to Joomla! 3.4, the Joomla.org homepage redesign team, lead by Søren Beck Jensen, was formed to begin rethinking this high visibility page. After over a year of research, collecting user feedback, and testing, the team finalised a new design and structure for the page.

The Joomla! Project would like to warmly thank all the volunteers involved in this team for their fantastic job.

Making it a reality

The redesign team’s vision started laying the framework for an upgraded site template for all of our Joomla! web properties; however we are not yet at a point where we can roll out this template. So the redesign team’s work was backported into our existing template so we could immediately make use of the team’s hard work and fresh ideas.

A big thank you to Sandra Thevenet, Michael Babker and Rowan Hoskyns Abrahall for completing this effort.

What's coming next

This new homepage is the first step of a larger mission.

Our Webmasters Team has been working hard to upgrade our sites to improve the security, performance, and usability of every section of every subdomain. As hinted at previously, part of this effort includes the creation of a new template for all of our websites. This is a quite long-term effort and if you would to join us to make it happen, please contact the joomla.org redesign team.
